SailGP will bring major excitement to New York Harbor over Summer Sailstice weekend as ten countries compete in the 12th of 13 global events. Sailings best professional athletes will fly over the water at 60+ mph speeds on identical 50-ft catamarans.

Competing countries and their season championship standings after 11 events:
- 1st: New Zealand, 83 pts
- 2nd: Spain, 72 pts
- 3rd: Australia, 71 pts
- 4th: France, 65 pts
- 5th: Denmark, 65 pts
- 6th: Great Britain, 58 pts
- 7th: Canada, 58 pts
- 8th: United States, 50 pts
- 9th: Germany, 35 pts
- 10th: Switzerland, 28 pts
Each SailGP event features six fleet races, but don't go to the bar to get a drink; each race has a 16 minute time limit after which the race is terminated and scoring is awarded as long as at least one boat has reached the established scoring distance. The SailGP scoring system awards points for each race over all events and are tallied to determine the top three boats that will compete for the winner-takes-all Season Grand Final in San Francisco Bay on July 13-14.
