To the Summer Sailstice community:
Canada recognizes June 21st as Indigenous Peoples Day. Of course, every day is a good day to learn about and pay respect to the aboriginal people who have inhabited these lands since time immemorial. On June 21st, the solstice, we were anchored all alone in Baresides Bay near Port Neville in British Columbia. We were thrilled to find petroglyphs and an ancient clam garden nearby.
Next, we anchored at Matilpi that is the site of an abandoned native village with a white shell beach.
We enjoy participating in Summer Sailstice, sharing our experience and living vicariously through other’s sailing adventures.
Fair winds,
Suki & Chuck
