"Raise the burgee!" Chris said as Quincey and I followed suit, hoisting the 2022 Summer Sailstice into place. Although Chris and I had been busy with work, projects, and the other time-occupying-distractions, we were sure to make time to celebrate the longest Saturday of the year on the water, amongst friends.
For our sailing celebration we were not alone; in the cockpit we had fellow ambassadors Mitch and Quincey (from S/V Esprit), new friends Nora and Charles (from S/V Ayala), and Chris's older brother Jon (from S/V Prism). Soon we were out of the marina with a perfect breeze filling our new Precision head sail and pushing us through the glistening sea.
It was a wonderful day on the water sharing stories, making memories and enjoying snacks during the downwind portion before we made our way back to the marina - "rescuing" a mylar balloon along the way to be disposed of properly. Back in our slip, we walked over to join the Sailstice party hosted by Safe Harbor Ventura Isle and gathered with other avid boaters to enjoy the long lasting evening light.
We are honored to be ambassadors for Summer Sailstice, and hope we can help inspire the world to get out and sail not only next Sailstice, but anytime the sea calls!
