Ambassador Millie Biller wrote in to share her experience participating in the 2021 Lipton Cup on Summer Sailstice.
The new format for the Lipton Cup, which was formulated by such men of wisdom as Dick Loomis, Kimball Livingston, and others, brings the SF Bay Yacht Clubs together in a fabulous and unique way. Thanks to the sponsorship of the PICYA, St Francis YC, and this year, Encinal and South Beach YCs, 10 clubs get to race against each other in the J22s generously donated to the event by StFYC. The three-day event consists of Friday- skipper must be over 60, Saturday- all out buoy racing, and Sunday, the skipper must be a woman.
The camaraderie this event creates between the various Clubs of the Bay (and beyond- like us from Inverness and Tahoe), brings all of the clubs and various sailing venues so much closer together. I appreciate the efforts of all involved in the coordination of this event more than I can say. How fun that it happened on Sailstice!!! - Millie Biller
We happened to sail by the festivities in the Estuary in Summer Sailstice, perfect timing to catch a little video. Don't forget to check out all of our Sailstice videos on submissions on our YouTube page.
