Sailors and their crew who signed for West Coast Multihulls's Summer Sailstice event enjoyed celebrating in San Diego!
Kim Dumas from West Coast Multihulls sent us her account and photos of what was clearly a great day on the water in San Diego.
'I think the whole day was a great success!'
'By 10am on Sat, June 24, we had 8 multihulls, full of sailing enthusiasts on their way to Mission Bay for a fun, summer raft up. Our Summer Sailstice flotilla started off as a typical "June Gloom" day, but as we approached Mission Bay, the sky opened up and the sun was shining bright. As we all turned the corner to enter Mariner's Basin, we were greeted by hundreds of outriggers paddling their way out to the ocean. What an awesome and unexpected treat that was!
'One by one, we all tied up our cats and tris together in Bonita Cove to make one big floating party. Everyone jumped from boat to boat sharing drinks and appetizers while meeting new friends.
'After a few hours of play time, we untied from each other, pulled up anchor and sailed back to San Diego Bay.
Back at West Coast Multihulls, everyone gathered at the Sunroad Resort Marina club house where we all enjoyed a fiesta complete with Street Tacos, Margaritas and Mexican Beer. Thanks to the generous donations from West Marine, Ullman Sails, Denison Yacht Sales, Summer Sailstice and Cruising Outpost Magazine, EVERYONE won a raffle prize.
The perfect end to a perfect day.'
