Resolution had an enjoyable and "uneventful" (just the way we like it!) first cruise of the sailing season on Lake Erie. She departed Spitzer's Lakeside Marina in Lorain, OH at precisely noon on Sunday, with Bev, Brian, Kelli, Mike, 4-year old Clayton, and of course our boatdog, Cocker Spaniel "Doogie". The crew performed spectacularly!
The skies were overcast Sunday morning, but by noon we had beautiful clear blue skies over Lake Erie. We had a casual sail north several miles with winds NE 15+, and seas of 1-3+, listening to Jimmy Buffet, and grilling dogs and barbequed chicken. The most challenging part of the entire cruise was that the wind kept blowing out the gas grill!
Among the several sailing vessels we encountered, the tall ship "Windy II" out of Chicago was taking passengers out of Lorain for short cruises, and motored past as we approached the Lorain light. One of the highlights of the day was the number of boats passing by both while underway and in the marina and waving "Hi!". Sailors are a friendly community, and we appreciate them all.
Here's wishing everyone a terrific sailing season!
Smooth sailing,
Brian & Bev Boschen
