Sailing in the desert

The El Butte Sail Club in NM managed a great day on the water for Summer Sailstice. Not surprisingly it was sunny in New Mexico and they had plenty of boats and breeze to help them put the peddle to the plastic of their rotomolded Windriders.

Club Secretary Sheila Walker dropped us a digital note and pictures: The El Butte Sail Club is located in Elephant Butte, NM. Located 150 south of Albuquerque, Elephant Butte Lake is New Mexico's largest man-made lake. It is fed by the Rio Grande. go to: emnrd.state.nm.us/PRD/buttephototour.htm

Of the 25 members we have, some come from such places as Minn, Texas, Wisconsin and Colorado. We mostly sail Windriders - 16' (single) and 17' (double) trimarans, the easiest boat to sail; but being a casual and fun group of people, we let anybody with any type of boat race with us.

Thanks,
Shiela Walker, secretary/treas
