The event was officailly named "Summer Sailstice, Rum Tasting and Sail to Cranes Mill" and it was held at Lake Canyon Yacht Club, 180 Yacht Club Dr., Canyon Lake Texas.
Despite a plan to sail, the merry crew from Canyon Lake scrapped their time on the water in favour of time on land, which was put to good use judging by this account from Gary Kirkham:
Despite the rain, last Saturday's first ever Summer Sailstice was declared an unbelievable success. 18 hardy souls (at one time or another) enjoyed great food, laughter and creative story telling.
The rum tasting event proved that this group of sailors favors cheap rum. Ron Rio was the big time contest winner. I think it's made in Kansas.
We had showers off and on most of the day, so we decided to scrub the sail up to Cranes Mill Marina. Final thought - any event that lasts from noon until 5 pm in the rain is a good event. We're all thinking bigger is better for 2016.
Epilogue:
We held the annual Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Benefit Race on July 4th raising over $30,000 for LLS, but the BIG topic was how much fun was had at the Summer Sailstice Party.
