Welcome aboard to Randall Reeves! Randall started sailing in high school on the San Joaquin River and continued in the Bay and ultimately venturing across the globe solo. Randall completed Figure 8 Voyage around the world last year being the first solo sailor to complete the feat, taking 306 days. We are excited to have Randall on as an ambassador this year, representing solo sailors, ocean voyagers, and all sailors with big dreams.
Tell us a bit about yourself!
As a young man, I learned to sail on the San Joaquin River via the Stockton Sailing Club. Even then sailing solo was the dream. I used to "borrow" the family boat for singlehanded jaunts down the river to San Francisco Bay. As an adult, I sailed a Far East Mariner 31 on the bay for years and then made my first ocean passages in her in 2010/12. In 2017, I set out to complete a Figure 8 Voyage around the world. That was a longish trip. It took a couple of tries.
