If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it does it make a sound? Or if you have a fun Summer Sailstice and didn't take photos was it really fun? According to Julien Hofberg of the Tartan 4600 Phoenix, from Edgewater, MD the lack of photos is proof of the fun.
Julien wrote in saying, "It worked out well" and continued with:
We’ve returned home after observing the Summer Sailstice in a proper way. Although our plans were modifying (think tacking) and with an occasional hard shift (think accidental gybing), we still had a great weekend. Marvelous sailing out of the South River into the Chesapeake Bay. As the weather changed around and the predictions changed, and as the dark clouds started forming, we headed into the anchorage. Found a good, protected spot, and then the weather cleared. We almost went back out again, but company had started attaching to the raft, so we started the party instead.
All the boats were secured and into full party mode with lots of food and drinks to share.
At around 6:00, a different kind of music started, instead of Jimmy Buffet recordings, we starting hearing the horns and instruments of the Eastport Oyster Boys and friends. Everybody shut off their music and we listened to live music! They played for several hours which really made the sunset special.
We had a surprise shower overnight that caused a lot of movement. . . mainly checking the anchor and closing hatches and portholes. By morning, everything was dried out and most of us happy about the freshwater washdown. A few dinghy visits during breakfast and then out for a Fathers’ Day sail.
All-in-all, a great weekend.
Sorry, no pictures. . . we were having too much fun to stop and take pictures.
Cheers,
Julien Hofberg
