While some were out battling Bay breezes in the Summer Sailstice regatta others were enjoying a quiet raft-up in the lee of Treasure Island while conducting a photo bikini photo shoot with Renegade Photos.
Utilizing the activity tools at meetup.com, John Cabrall created Got Wind and Water as a way to connect sailors and wannabes to sailing on San Francsisco Bay. In just over a year John and the group have introduced hundreds of people to sailing and each other. For Summer Sailstice the rallied skippers, crew and aligned with the Renegade Photo MeetUp group to add one more element to the eclectic mix of sailing activities happening on Summer Sailstice: a bikini modeling session on the beach at Clipper Cove.
Skippers sailed out a group of participating photographers, models and swimwear and set up camp just down the beach from an active family treasure hunt.
John Cabrall has written up their adventures for the day:
The June 19th Got Wind and Water 'Mega Event' was a huge success, or so I'm told - I had my hands full trying to find boats that were trying to find the raft. Winds in the central part of the cove were 20 knots - gusting to 30 - at times. Of course we are experienced sailors and know the bay like the back of our hands, so we knew where to raft up to enjoy a pleasant day in the sun by the beach. We had fun sailing to the cove, and had fun sailing home, and some even had fun on the raft. Read more here.
