Judging from the photos the Umbrella Downwind Regatta at Marina Riviera Nayarit, Mexico was a great success, and a couple of participants gave us their take on the day's celebrations:
First take a look at this clip of the day's events:
Katrina Liana said... This is our third year of celebrating Summer Sailstice in Banderas Bay Mexico. Adam Finer of Pacific Paddle-Bucerias along with Mike Danielson of PV Sailing-La Cruz de Huanataxtle help organize a unique Umbrella / SUP Regatta. 2015 Sailstice consist of umbrellas or any custom material to catch wind along with anything that floats without a motor and some sort of rudder control. Goal, style points, finish first and do not capsize. Pacific Paddle introduced a new type of monster size SUP boards for up to 2 - 8 people each for a drag-race. The competitors, Team Crocs, Team Chili, Team SUP & Team Starboard. Three of the teams had children as crew (smart on weight) with many penalties (due to adults) playing during the course.
Disclaimer, no humans were harmed during these events. Join us next year 2016 Summer Sailstice and Paddle Regatta at Marina Riviera Nayarit.
