Captain Kirk (aka Gary Kirkham) sent us a round up of the Lake Canyon Yacht Club's second annual Summer Sailstice celebration. From the sounds of Capt. Kirk's news, the LCYC is gaining a following and enjoying a taste of notoriety for their Summer Sailstice activities...
'The second annual Summer Sailstice at Lake Canyon Yacht Club was a resounding success despite temperatures hovering near 100 degrees and absolutely no wind.
We had a great time with the Rum Tasting Event. Ron Rio from Kansas was unseated as champion and replaced by an unknown rum called "1835 Rum" made in Fort Worth (sigh!). We were so hoping for a winner from St. Somewhere, a little further South.
Lunch was an international buffet of treats and the music was of course, Buffett!
Participation was almost double the previous year, so we're going into 2017 on a roll. We are hoping for decent winds and sunshine next year to demonstrate to the rest of the world that we actually HAVE boats and DO SAIL THEM. ;-)
Happy sailing!
-Gary Kirkham aka Captain Kirk and the Summer Sailstice Founding Fathers'
It sounds like these sailors certainly know how to celebrate!
'We're already looking forward to hearing about your 2017 Summer Sailstice adventures.'
