With Thanksgiving now behind us our diaries are begining to fill with gatherings and events to celebrate the coming Christmas season. One much anticipated occasion for every boat club and hundreds of sailors around the world is the annual Lighted Boat Parade. Are you organizing, taking part in, or watching a Lighted Boat Parade this month?
We had a quick chat with Google and found more than a few parades scheduled across the country this weekend and next!
South Sound Sailing Society on Puget Sound, WA has shared the news of Olympia Yacht Club's '2018 Parade of Lighted Ships'. The parade begins at 6pm this Saturday, Dec. 1st to the theme, "Seas the Holidays".
On Dec. 8, Tampa Sailing Squadron in Florida is hosting the 'Apollo Beach Lighted Boat Parade'. The boats in this parade will be vying for awards in four categories - Overall Winner; Sailboats; Power Boats < 30'; Power Boats ≥ 30'
Boca Ciega Yacht Club, Gulfport, Fl is also holding their parade on Dec. 8. This will be BCYC's 33rd Annual Christmas Boat Parade and will incorporate 'Operation Santa'. Coordinated by the Gulfport Police Department, Operation Santa collects toys for the children of Gulfport whose holidays would be sadder without the generosity of the community. Boca Ciega Yacht Club is proud to have been part of Operation Santa for 18 years.
Peninsula Yacht Club in Cornelius, NC is calling all boats for their "lakewide event". Santa will arrive at 6pm by fireboat, so remember to arrive early for the best viewing spots.
These are just a few of the potentially hundreds of events happening around the country and around the world this month. We hope you get to enjoy at least one Lighted Boat Parade this year. Let us know if you do!
