The 2018 Summer Sailstice weekend has kicked off a fantastic sailing season and we're getting lots of reports of Sailstice shenanigans and merriment, along with some great photos to prove it!
George Wallims from GW4 Sailing introduced several new comers to the fun of sailing at Newport Beach, CA. As an experienced educator and sailor, George has combined his passions with US Sailing affiliation to provide sail training to children and adults alike. On this year's Summer Sailstice weekend he introduced several new people to sailing, and judging by the smiling faces everyone loved it, especially George!
'I love introducing beginners to sailing I love to see the excitement in their faces.'
Dale Land and his crew undertook a cruise from Brickyard Cove Marina in Richmond, CA to Half Moon Bay/Pillar Point on the Summer Sailstice, Saturday morning. And while his crew slept, ah... sorry, enjoyed the ride, Captain Dale safely guided the Catalina C320, 'American Beauty' along the USA's West Coast.
Melissa Pike and her friends had already been on the water for more than a fortnight when this year's Summer Sailstice rolled around.
'We were sailing our Catalina 36 mkII Silent Sky in what turned into a crazy fog off of Newport, RI (Rose Island light and the Jamestown bridge are in the background). This year, we started our 2 1/2 week summer cruise earlier than in the past, and we were just wrapping up an amazing week in Narragansett Bay before a hop over to Block Island.'
Send us your photos and Sailstice news so we can share your stories with sailors around the world. Who knows, you might even become famous!
