Tell us a bit about yourself!
Hello! Unlike some of my sailing peers, I did not grow up sailing! I grew up in Morgantown, WV, and as a teenager did a little canoeing on Cheat Lake. It wasn't until I was much older when I was first introduced to sailing in 2010, after moving to Maryland. I eventually crewed on a J29 (Gabrielle) and raced PHRF for about 6 years. I decided I wasn't getting enough time on the water, so I bought my own boat, a J30, and started racing in the one-design fleet 5 years ago. I skipper Suzie Q and enjoy racing Wednesday nights, Beer Cans, and various other regattas; along with just cruising around the Bay. I also enjoy chartering boats with friends and sailing in the Caribbean. I even had some fun delivering a boat from Norfolk, VA to Ft. Lauderdale, FL with my partner over a Christmas holiday! Sailing is a great way to make friends and enjoy the natural beauty of our Bay!

What do you love about sailing?
I love how sailing takes me away from all the on-shore drama! It can be thrilling but also relaxing. It awakens all the senses in my body.
How long have you been participating in Summer Sailstice?
Off and on over the past 10 years.
What are your Summer Sailstice plans for 2021?
I hope to be out on my boat enjoying a nice sail!
Are you a part of any sailing clubs, fleets or organizations?
I am a member of the J30 fleet and just recently was elected to serve as the J30 Chesapeake Fleet Captain. I am also very active through Eastport Yacht Club as the House Committee Chair and Special Events Chair.
Why do you want to be a Summer Sailstice Ambassador?
I want to encourage sailors to get out on the water and to take some non-sailors out with them!
