Germany - Summer Sailstice celebrated on Lake Alster

Jan and Detleft of Hamburg, Germany enjoyed a gusty dinghy sail aboard a 505 on Lake Alster to celebrate the Sailstice! According to Jan, “the weather was quite foul with an air temperture of 13°C, rain, and strong gusts, but we had a lot of fun since the water is around 17°C.”
Their sailing location, Lake Alster, is a whopping 160 hectares in size and only 2.5 meters at its deepest. This artificial lake was created as early as the 13th century out of the Alster rivulet and its even smaller tributaries. Today it serves as a paradise for sailors, rowers and canoeists in one of the world’s greenest cities.
