Early-Bird Navionics Winners Enjoy Summer Sailstice While Dreaming of their Caribbean Adventure

Gary Howman and his wife, Shelly won a Custom 2GB Chart from Navionics in our February Sign-up contest, and although they didn't use it for their Summer Sailstice weekend, they're enjoying planning ahead to follow their new Navionics chart when they cruise the Caribbean.

'On Saturday, June 24, my wife, Shelly, and I set out into Tampa Bay from our home port in Apollo Beach, FL on our 36’ Hunter sailboat, 'Good Fortune'. It was an absolutely gorgeous Florida summer day. Not much wind, but we had no place to go and all day to get there. Once we got out a mile or so, we hoisted the sails and cut the engine. We ambled along at 2 to 3 knots, laying in the cockpit, working on our tans, and listening to the sound of the water go by. (Keeping a sharp lookout, of course, for all the speedy power boaters and cargo ships in the channel.) I don’t think we could have asked for a better day. After we got back to our slip, we kicked back for another few hours with some food and adult beverages and watched the sun go down. It was a perfect day...'

'I was one of the early bird winners in the Summer Sailstice contest for registering so early. I was lucky enough to win a new Navionics flash card for my Raymarine chartplotter. I already have the North American card, but I needed the South American one to cover all of the Caribbean. My wife and I are planning to go cruising in the Caribbean in another year and a half when she retires. Now thanks to the fine folks at Summer Sailstice and Navionics, I have the card way ahead of time.'
