Congratulations to the 2018 Summer Sailstice Photo Contest winners!
There was certainly some strong competition in this year's pool of pics, but at the end of it all we have a clear first-place winner and a few place-getters. So without further ado, here are the official results.
First prize goes to Chad Sturgis for his great photo of the raft up circle on San Francisco Bay:
'The Washed Up Yacht Club comes together for their 5th Annual Summer Gathering at a special cove in the SF bay to welcome new friends and warm winds.'
Chad wins a copy of Convergence - A Voyage Through French Polynesia by Sally-Christine Rodgers, a Mantus Anchors Backpack, a Bainbridge Centennial DIAX Sailcloth Briefcase, a 1-year subscription to Blue Water Sailing Magazine, and a Navionics Boating App.
Second prize goes to Sue Reitz for her photo of the Hunter Sailing Association Station #1 sailors enjoying their Summer Sailstice in the Chesapeake.
'A forecast for terrible weather on the Chesapeake didn't deter these Hunter Sailing Association Station #1 sailors who were rewarded with a fantastic day for their planned sail and raft up.'
Sue wins a Mantus Anchors Headlamp, a Bainbridge Centennial DIAX Sailcloth Briefcase, a 1-year subscription to Blue Water Sailing Magazine, and a Navionics App
Third prize is won by Teresa Smith-Galoob for her self-portrait aboard her Rooster Class Sailboat, #715, the SARAH-t.
'Teresa celebrated Summer Sailstice under the power of the SARAH-t's new sail, made by Sailstice supporter, Quantum Sails.'
Teresa wins a Bainbridge Centennial DIAX Sailcloth Briefcase, a 1-year subscription to Blue Water Sailing Magazine, and a Navionics App.
This year we've decided to award a few extra prizes for some photos that we at Summer Sailstice particularly like. As you know, our mission is to get the whole world sailing, and what better way to do this than to "start 'em young". Kids clearly love sailing, and we love the smiling faces and enthusiasm of the young sailors enjoying their Summer Sailstice. Therefore we're awarding prizes to the photographers and sailors of these photos - a Pocket Quick Reference Guide from Davis Instruments, a 1-yr Subscription to Blue Water Sailing Magazine, and a Summer Sailstice burgee or cap (depending on available stocks).
Thank you to everyone who took part whether as photographer or model. We have enjoyed seeing all your entries and look forward to seeing more sailing pics, and photos of you enjoying your prizes.
Mark your calendar for Summer Sailstice 2019 and your next opportunity to enter the Summer Sailstice Photo Contest and much more - June 22/23.
