In just a few days time sailors across the globe will untie their docklines and head out on the water to celebrate sailing, with Summer Sailstice 2017. Will you be among them?
Here are just a few of the events lined up -
Sheridan Shore Yacht Club/Lake Michigan, Illinois is having a pot luck supper then will head out on Lake Michigan for a sunset sail. "If the weather cooperates, we will raft up and bob together in the last rays of one of the longest days of summer!"
Twin Cities Sailing Club, on Lake Harriet in Minneapolis, Minnesota will be offering free sailboat rides (weather permitting) and providing information on sailing, the club, and other sailing organizations in the Twin Cities area. "Please join us and take part in an international celebration of Sailing!"
Michael Angell is planning on sailing a Mirror Dinghy on Hamburg Lake, MI. Michael restored the dinghy himself and has entered it in the RESTORE AN OLD SAILBOAT contest.
Lake Stockton Yacht CLub, MO is hosting an Inter-Dock Challenge! "This will be a reverse start (chase race) for all members. Members should challenge sailboats from other docks, marinas, lakes, oceans and/or planets to come and race with us!"
Milford Yacht Club, CT is hosting the Charles Island Raft Up - 2017. "BYOS (Bring Your Own Sustenance), no RSVP required, forecast looks good."
Sail Solomons is celebrating with the Sail-Aweigh Sailibration. "Participating boats will sail to our designated raft-up and lunch anchorage. We'll cruise back in company to ZYC, followed by cocktails, BBQ and dock party."
