2003 Sailstice Fun At The Bitter End Yacht Club

March 29, 2009 by jarndt

14 boats take part in Bitter End's First Annual Summer Sailstice Gathering

It was another great day for sailing, in this case the longest of the year, in the North Sound as almost 40 keen sailors enjoyed classic sailing conditions well into the evening. At least 8 Hobie Waves, 1 Hobie Getaway, 1 Hunter Excite, 1 Vanguard 15, 1 IC 24, 1 Windsurfer and our Express 37 Cosmic Warlord weaved through the mooring field in a very casual regatta. Beginners paired with seasoned vets to ensure maximum participation. When the sun went down, participants gathered at Mo Ryan's Pub to enjoy an old fashioned cookout and some frosty beverages. DJ "Heavy B" spun the tunes well into the night.

Here is the list of participants:

It was lots of fun and a great first year for us celebrating sailing's holiday. We'll do it again next year and expect a much bigger turn out when Summer Sailstice falls on a Monday--one of the more popular "charter yacht visitation" days at Bitter End. It wouldn't hurt to put Summer Sailstice 2004 on your Caribbean sailing calendar now and plan to sail and celebrate with us on the longest sailing day of the year.
