Keeping the Tradition Alive is a 172-page hardcover book, which tells the story of the schooners from their days of hauling cargo through to their integration into the passenger-cruises lifestyle. Filled with historic photographs of the boats and 1940’s Camden Harbor, the book paints a vivid picture of the lives of these historic vessels of the Maine Windjammer Cruises® fleet.
Adding to the celebrations, this year also marks the 100th anniversary of Maine Windjammer Cruises® 115’ vessel "The Schooner Mercantile". Built locally in 1916, and restored in 1989, she is often referred to as the "Prettiest coaster on the Bay,” and has spent almost her entire career in the region.
